Electrical Supervisor Grade A & B Licenses in Kerala


In Kerala, the Electrical Licensing Board is responsible for issuing licenses to electrical professionals, including supervisors, contractors, and wiremen. The Electrical Supervisor License is categorized into Grade A and Grade B based on the scope of work and level of responsibility.



  • Grade A Supervisors are authorized to oversee high-voltage electrical installations, typically in large industrial and commercial projects.

  • Grade B Supervisors manage low-voltage electrical installations, such as those in residential and small-scale commercial projects.

Both categories are critical for ensuring the safe installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems while adhering to strict safety standards set by the Indian Electricity Rules 1956 and other relevant codes.






Electrical Supervisor - Grade A

Scope of Work:


  • Oversees high-voltage electrical installations (above 500 KVA).

  • Manages large-scale projects like industrial and commercial buildings.

  • Ensures the safe installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems.

  • Must follow the Indian Electricity Rules 1956 and other safety protocols to prevent accidents.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • B.Tech in Electrical Engineering + 1 year of experience, OR

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering + 3 years of experience.

Application Process:

  1. Register and Login on the Samraksha Portal.

  2. Documents to Upload:

  • Photo (100KB, 150w x 200h px, .jpg/.jpeg/.png format).

  • Signature (100KB, 150w x 100h px, .jpg/.jpeg/.png format).
  • Certificate to prove date of birth.
  • Certificate to prove qualification.
  • Certificate to prove experience.
  • Application Fee: ₹1600/-.



Electrical Supervisor - Grade B

Scope of Work:

  • Oversees low-voltage electrical installations (up to 250 KVA).

  • Manages smaller-scale projects such as residential and small commercial buildings.

  • Ensures compliance with safety standards for low-voltage systems.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, OR

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering + 1 year of experience, OR

  • ITI + Wireman Permit + 2 years of experience, OR

  • SSLC + Wireman Permit + 4 years of experience.
